FAQ

Please read these before emailing the blogmaster...

1. Can I use some of your pictures for a site that I'm building?
This one tends to fall into a gray area. I don't mind when a site uses some of the pictures from this one. In fact, I'd like to think that this is the first place you would come to find a Tim Roth picture. However, I will request a link back to this site, or at least a mention stating where you got the pics from. Furthermore, I don't think it's fair to all the work that I do for someone to create a new, comprehensive site based solely on information garnered from this one. I love the fact that people want to celebrate the great work that Tim does, but please find your own way to do so. I don't have time to put every single thing that Tim does on this site, so there's plenty of room for other sites to step in.

2.There is a broken link at...
This isn't really a question, but I'm always grateful when someone points out broken links or typos to me. I don't have time to go over the pages with a fine-toothed comb, and every little bit helps. If some section of the page is not working for you I probably don't know about it, so go ahead and let me know.

3.I like/love/hate/despise the pages!
Again, not a question, but these types of comments are also always welcome. I may not respond to your message, but I appreciate your comments and will try to take any suggestions into account.

4.Did you know...?
If it's not on the page, probably not. Please send me any news tidbits or items to add to the page that you have. I did not find all of the articles and pictures on my own, and I certainly don't have the time to scour the Internet for the lastest information. Just like PBS, this site wouldn't be possible without viewers like you.

5.Do you know where Tim Roth is right now? (aka "Is Tim in [place] now?" or "Is Tim going to be in [place] on [date]?")
The answer to this is almost always going to be no, or I don't know. If he is filming something or if he is doing a talk somewhere the only way I have of knowing is through word of mouth (or rather, word of e-mail). If someone tells me that they spotted Tim in their hometown (or whatever) I'll post it to the page. Otherwise, I don't know, and your guess is as good as mine.

6.Can you send me a [certain] picture of Tim?
The short answer to this is no. The longer answer is that I don't want to get into trafficking pictures all over the Internet for people, and if it's not on the pages I don't have a copy of it. If it is on the pages you can download it yourself.

7.Can Tim Roth really play the piano?
No, he cannot. For The Legend of 1900 he trained for six months to learn to fake it.

8.I'm your biggest fan!
Not so much a question as it is a really embarrassing thing for me to read. I am not Tim Roth. I am just a fan who volunteers what little time I have to put this page together. I repeat: I am not Tim Roth.

9.OK then, can you give me Tim Roth's e-mail address?
Apparently I need to be more specific. I do not know Tim Roth. I have never met him. I am in no way connected to the entertainment business. Other than sending a letter to one of the addresses listed in the Contacting Tim section, I do not know how to contact Tim Roth. Of course, even if I did have his e-mail address, I wouldn't give it out to random Internet strangers and potential stalkers.

10.Do you know where I can get any Tim Roth porn?
This is a very embarrassing question. The answer is no. Well, not entirely. The only porn I know of with Tim Roth even in it would have to be here:

Lie To Me

From writer Samuel Baum ("The Evidence") and the executive producers of 24 and "Arrested Development" comes LIE TO ME, a drama series inspired by a true story about a deception expert who can read the human face, body and voice to expose the truth in criminal cases and investigations.

When you itch your chin, wring your hands, scratch your nose or increase your swallowing, DR. CAL LEIGHTMAN knows you're lying. And he doesn't just think so - he knows so. Whether it be family, friends or complete strangers - he knows when they're holding something back. More accurate than any polygraph test, he is a human lie detector.

Dr. Cal Leightman heads up a private agency contracted by the FBI, local police, law firms, corporations and private individuals when they've hit a roadblock on their searches for the truth. Joining him are the foremost experts in the field of behavioral psychology: DR. GILLIAN FOSTER is the doctor's professional partner and intellectual counterpart, a master of deception equally comfortable with lying and concealing her emotions; the other is Dr. Leightman's lead researcher WILL LOKER who says everything on his mind and seemingly lacks the ability to lie. RIA TORRES (Monica Raymund), the newest member of the team, uses her natural and uncanny ability to read body language to catch the clues that her professional partners miss.

Brian Grazer, David Nevins and Samuel Baum serve as executive producers in conjunction with 20th Century Fox Television on this intriguing series based on the science developed by pioneering behavioral psychologists. In its cases and in its character relationships, this unique procedural and character drama is not simply a search for a criminal, but a search for human truth.

LIE TO ME probes the very heart of human nature and explores the idea that there's nothing more revealing than when we choose to tell the truth and when we decide to lie.

Tim's Biography

Born in London, 1961, the son of a journalist and an artist mother, Tim Roth was brought up in the middle-class suburb of West Dulwich, but his life changed dramatically when he failed exams for the grammar schools in his area and moved to a seriously hard comprehensive school in Brixton. He first tried acting at the age of 16, in a school musical version of Dracula. When an art student, he realised that perhaps he wasn't destined to become a sculptor, and landed the role of a seething skinhead in Alan Clarke's TV-movie Made in Britain (1982), a character which gained him cult status. He finally quit Camberwell Art College and the serious roles started to roll in, Mike Leigh's study of estate survival, Meantime (1983), and Stephen Frears existential gangster flick, The Hit (1984), were amongst them - then a period of four undemanding years had Roth seriously questioning his future. He was saved by a small part in Peter Greenaway's gothic The Cook, The Thief, His Wife & Her Lover (1989). In 1990, he was cast as Van Gogh in Robert Altman's Vincent and Theo, and as Guildenstern in Tom Stoppard's Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead, both confirmed Roth as one of Britain's leading young actors.
Roth landed a couple of roles in American independent films, packed his bags and moved to Los Angeles in 1990. He got closer to the top of the pile when Quentin Tarantino befriended him and gave him what turned out to be the show-stopping role of undercover cop, Mr. Orange, dying a slow, bloody death in Reservoir Dogs (1992). In 1992 Roth met his wife, Nikki, a Californian fashion designer, and they married a year later. The success of Tarantino's debut paved the way for the role of a diner thief in Pulp Fiction (1994). During the same year he appeared as a hitman in the low-key thriller Little Odessa (1994), and a charming convict seducing dentist Julia Ormond in Captives (1994). This was followed by a unashamedly over the top performance as a 17th century fop in Rob Roy (1995), and the role of an English bellboy in Four Rooms (1995), the ill-fated portmanteau comedy set in a Hollywood hotel and directed by Tarantino, Allison Anders, Alexandre Rockwell and Robert Rodriguez. Roth turned his hand to directing, and was highly commended for his debut, an adaptation of Alexander Stuart's novel The War Zone (1999), a film about incest. A return to big-budget films arrived with Roth's role as the menacing gorilla leader General Thade in Tim Burton's Planet of the Apes (2001).
